There are numerous attractions located throughout the park that are perfect for any age.

Hours and Location

Open 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
Washington Park is located in Southwest Portland between W Burnside Street and U.S. 26.

Park Attractions

Archery Range

Outdoor archery range surrounded by the forested park. The archery range is managed by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Hours: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Children's Playground

This accessible playground includes slides, swings, a sand pit and restrooms. The playground is managed by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Hoyt Arboretum

Hoyt Arboretum is Portland’s museum of living trees with over 2,000 species of trees and plants from around the world. Explore the collection along 12 miles of trails, enjoy the scenic views, or stop by the Visitor Center operated by Hoyt Arboretum Friends

International Rose Test Garden

A free rose garden managed by Portland Parks & Recreation with over 7,000 rose plants of approximately 550 varieties.

Memorials

There are several memorials you can visit throughout the park, including the Oregon Holocaust Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans of Oregon Memorial, and the Sacajawea Memorial.

Picnic Tables

Picnic tables are located throughout the park and can be reserved for large parties through Portland Parks & Recreation. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park unless part of a permitted event.

Portland Japanese Garden

A traditional Japanese garden with five styles of gardens showcased in a serene 5.5 acre space with a waterfall, demonstration teahouse, and mountain view.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located at the Oregon Zoo, TriMet Plaza, Hoyt Arboretum Visitor’s Center, Rose Garden, Elephant House Picnic shelter, Holocaust Memorial. Restrooms are maintained by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Hours: 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Availability: generally first come, first serve basis. Reserved occasionally.

Work on your stroke on the three tennis courts located next to the Rose Garden. The tennis courts are maintained by Portland Parks & Recreation.

Oregon Zoo
The drop-off zone near Oregon Zoo Gate D is not available due to construction. For Zoo deliveries, please call the Oregon Zoo at (503) 226-1561.
Portland Japanese Garden
The parking area closest to the Japanese Garden is closed due to renovations until March 2016. .
Tennis Courts
Tennis courts #1 and #2 are closed due to construction. Tennis courts #3 through #6 remain available for use.
